Exceptional Student Educational Eligibility for Students Who Are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing

PURPOSE:

The purpose and effect of this rule amendment is to modify the methodology for identifying students who are deaf or hard of hearing to more closely align with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

SUMMARY:

The amendment broadens and defines deaf and hard of hearing, describes the audiological report and assessments that must be conducted to identify a student who is deaf or hard of hearing for exceptional student education, and provides resources for students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their parents.
