Student Wellness and Sports Education Center

The University of North Florida – Board of Trustees, a public body corporate, announces that Construction Management Services will be required for the Student Wellness and Sport Education Center to be located at University of North Florida, 1 UNF Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32224.

The project consists of approximately 116,000 gross square feet of new construction in several phases. The facility will be a multi-story building designed to be compatible with the existing campus architecture. The project site is adjacent to the Dottie Dorion fitness center which is north of the new Student Union and west of the existing Arena. The Center’s purpose is to enhance the quality of life for the University’s student body, faculty, and staff by accommodating a wide variety of activities and educational opportunities. This facility will include dedicated group fitness space, recreational sports activity space, free weights and weight machine spaces. There will be dedicated space for indoor sports including basketball/volleyball/racquetball, boulder climbing, classrooms, passive activity space, retail space, physical health assessment and counseling space plus administrative spaces.

Programming for this facility has been completed by the joint venture firm of PSA Dewberry and Borelli & Partners and will be made available on the consultants’ Website.

It has been determined that this facility will be constructed in three phases corresponding to funding availability. The details of each phase will be the initial activity undertaken by the selected CM firm. It is also the goal to construct this facility to the highest possible level of LEED Certification, within the available budget.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Firms desiring to apply for consideration shall submit a letter of application with all of the appropriate documents from RFQ 10-13 CM Services – Student Wellness and Sports Education Center Building:

The letter of application should have attached:

1.     The most recent version of the “UNF Construction Manager Qualifications Supplement,” completed by the applicant. Applications on any other form will not be considered. Evaluation criteria is detailed in the RFQ 10-13 document.

2.     A copy of the applicant’s current Florida Contractor’s License from the appropriate governing board. An applicant must be properly registered at the time of application to practice its profession in the State of Florida. If the applicant is a corporation, it must be chartered by the Florida Department of State to operate in Florida.

3.     Submit seven (7) complete copies of the above requested data bound and in the order listed above. Applications which do not comply with the above instructions will be disqualified. Application materials will not be returned.

Minority Business participation is strongly recommended and supported by the University of North Florida.

As required by Section 287.133, Florida Statutes, a construction manger may not submit a proposal for this project if it is on the convicted vendor list for a public entity crime committed within the past 36 months. The selected construction manager must warrant that it will neither utilize the services of, nor contract with, any supplier, subcontractor, or consultant in excess of $15,000.00 in connection with this project for a period of 36 months from the date of their being placed on the convicted vendor list.

Submit seven (7) complete copies of submittals to the above referenced address. RFQ submittals must be received no later than 2:00 p.m. (Local Time), March 1, 2010. Facsimile (FAX) or email submittals are not acceptable and will not be considered.
