PURPOSE AND EFFECT: On July 20, 2009, the Department of Environmental Protection (Department) received a petition to initiate rulemaking from the Florida Stormwater Association to establish a more refined surface water classification system. The Department is initiating rulemaking and has scheduled a workshop to receive comments from the public regarding the establishment of a new surface water classification system based on the recommendations of a previously established advisory committee known as the Designated Uses Policy Advisory Committee.
SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: Rule development will address the need to establish a more refined surface water classification system.
