PURPOSE AND EFFECT: To amend Chapter 62B-34, F.A.C., to allow dune restoration projects to receive a general permit. This Chapter provides a streamlined permitting process for activities seaward of the Coastal Construction Control Line that do not cause measureable interference with the beach and dune system or with marine turtles and their nesting habitats, in accordance with current statutes.
SUBJECT AREA TO BE ADDRESSED: TO BE ADDRESSED: The Bureau of Beaches and Coastal Systems intends to amend Chapter 62B-34, F.A.C., to allow dune restoration projects to receive General Permits. The new rule language will include application requirements for dune restoration general permits, general conditions for dune restoration projects and the criteria one must meet to receive a dune restoration general permit. These revisions will streamline the permitting process and save time and money for performing dune restoration and enhancement activities which will offer more protection to upland property and structures.
