PURPOSE:

The rules are being amended to increase fingerprint processing fees from $42.25 to $43.25. The current fee of $42.25 represents $23 charged by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for a state criminal history check and $19.25 charged by the U.S. Department of Justice for a national criminal history check. During the 2008 regular session, the Florida Legislature passed Senate Bill 1792. This bill was signed into law (Chapter 2008-112, Laws of Florida) by Governor Crist on June 10, 2008. Effective July 1, 2008, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will be increasing its fingerprint processing fee to $24 as required by Section 1 of Chapter 2008-112, Laws of Florida, which amends Section 943.053(3)(b), Florida Statutes.
