Candidate Petition Process

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the proposed rule amendments is to implement the provisions of Section 99.095, Florida Statutes, as amended in section 14 of Chapter 2005-277, Laws of Florida, and section 17 of Chapter 2007-30, Laws of Florida, relating to the process for qualifying by petition for candidates seeking federal, state, county, or special district offices.

SUMMARY:

The proposed rule provides the process for a candidate to qualify by petition in lieu of paying the qualifying fee or party assessment required by Chapter 99, Florida Statutes. The proposed rule also provides, among other items, the format for the candidate petition, the requirements for the petition form, and the requirements for signature verification.
