Statewide Assessment for Students with Disabilities

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this rule development is to conform with statutory changes and newly-created statutes enacted by the 2013 Florida Legislature. As a result of the creation of Section 1008.212, Florida Statutes, Rule 6A-1.0943, FAC., is being revised to provide definitions of “circumstance” and “condition” as applicable to statewide standardized assessments, include the use of “standardized” when referencing statewide assessment, and provide additional requirements surrounding an extraordinary exemption for a given assessment administration. The effect of these revisions will clarify the process districts must follow when requesting an exemption, and provide rights to parents pertaining to their administrative remedies regarding the exemption process.
