Meta-Major Academic Pathways

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this rule is to establish meta-major academic pathways as required by s. 1008.30(5), F.S. A meta-major is a collection of academic programs that have common or related content. For example, a health science meta-major would include programs such as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Nursing. The effect is that Florida College System institutions will advise students based on the selection of a meta-major academic pathway. When students select a meta-major at the time of admission, the Florida College System institution will be able to advise the student early in their academic program about which courses are most appropriate. The goal is to provide students with clear and specific advice about a program of study that is matched with their intended degree.
