Reading Achievement Initiative for Scholastic Excellence (RAISE)

PURPOSE:

The Department is revising the RAISE High School Tutoring Program parameters to align the rule with changes to Section 1008.365, F. S. (House Bill 1255 from the 2025 Legislative Session), to expand the types of tutoring hours that may be counted toward meeting the community service requirements for graduation and the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. Additional revisions include an update to better align with the District Comprehensive Evidence-Based Reading Plan (CERP) and an update for the reference to the Florida Continuous Improvement Management System (CIMS).

SUMMARY:

This rule establishes the Reading Achievement Initiative for Scholastic Excellence (RAISE) Program, which provides instructional supports to identified schools. As part of the RAISE Program, the Department has established a tutoring program that prepares eligible high school students to tutor students in kindergarten through grade 3 at RAISE schools.
